Back to School Information

  1. The school board office is now open: 250-652-7300. Please contact the board office immediately if you have moved and/or if there are changes in your child's registration.
  2. Our Keating school office will reopen Monday August 31. Phones will be answered between 8am and 3:30pm. Please call the office early next week should you have important information for school staff, prior to startup (medical and/or allergy information, student supports, extenuating circumstances, etc.)
  3. School Supplies: There is no need to purchase school supplies from stores at this time. These are purchased directly from the school - more information will be provided in early September. The 2026-2027 fee is $45 per student, plus $7 for intermediate classes using a student agenda. Should this be a financial challenge, please reach out in confidence to the school office.
  4. Now is a good time to start thinking about your child's clothing, footwear, backpacks, and lunchkits. Please ensure your child is ready for school in September, with backpacks and lunchkits in good working order, and good fitting running shoes for PE/gym classes.
  5. Bus Transportation: If there are changes or you still require bus transportation please contact the district's transportation department right away: 250-652-7343 or email: transportation@saanichschools.ca
  6. The first day back for students going into grades 1-5 is Tuesday, September 8. This is a shortened day, 8:40-10am. Buses will be operating to and from school, departing Keating shortly after 10am. Starting Wednesday Septemer 9 we return to full day instruction (8:40-2:48) and regular busing schedules. Kindergarten students do not attend school on Tuesday September 8, but follow the gradual entry schedule (previously sent out) starting Wednesday September 9.
  7. I encourage you to visit the link below, for the 2026-2027 overall school district calendar. This is helpful in planning for this year's non-instructional days, the first one being Friday September 25 (non-instructional teacher professional development day) as well as Wednesday September 30 (stat holiday).

We are looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
